So here I am in this new beginning. And still, I feel lost. I can't shake the feeling that my time has passed. I am surrounded by young, fresh faces, oblivious to the future agony that awaits them, bred by uncertainty and failed dreams.
The photo my father and my 1-year-old self, sitting on a mattress as he holds up a sheet of newspaper to me and as I look intently at it, reminds me that part of the reason I am here is because of him. On his deathbed, I promised him I would go return to school.
I hope this experience opens me to be more understanding of people, and I hope to be understood as well.

Summer's End
As I woke up this morning, I knew Summer was coming to an end. The cold air beckoned me to once again wrap myself in heavy blankets and wear my fleece pyjamas. No longer would I be able to sleep with the window open. This change of weather made me realize how close to September we are, and I lay in bed thinking about the new phase of my life. I wish I could say I am excited, but my inhibitions are causing me to doubt the decision I have made.
